Event: Vestibular Rehabilitation for the Dizziness and Whiplash Patient

Event time: Sat 17 Sep 2016, 9:00a.m.

Dr Carlo Rinaudo is a registered Chiropractor with post-graduate training in Functional Neuro-Rehabilitation. He is the clinic director of a multidisciplinary clinic, focused on helping people with dizziness and balance related conditions. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Vestibular therapy at University of New South Wales and Neuroscience Research Australia, working alongside leading researchers and Neurologists in the field.

His training in Australia and overseas with Prof Ted Carrick and at the Cerebrum Health Centers has led him to become a sought after practitioner when it comes to helping people suffering from concussions, whiplash, mild and acquired brain injuries, balance and vertigo disorders like BPPV, vestibular migraines and Mal De Debarquement syndrome.

The seminar has been awarded 10hours of FLA.

The seminar will cover:

  1. Basic neuroanatomy and physiology of the vestibular system - Having a understanding of the connection between it and the eye and spine system is vital for us as Chiropractors

  2. Conducting a history (algorithm approach) - 90% of a diagnosis can be drawn from a tailored and directed history

  3. Vestibular conditions - Know the difference between a central vs peripheral vestibular disorder, and we'll explore all variations of BPPV

  4. Assessment (practical and hands-on) - Understand the difference in nystagmus, eye function and balance testing

  5. Vestibular therapies (practical and hands on) - Use appropriate principles and strategies to address assessment findings

  6. Sensorimotor function of the cervical spine (practical and hands-on) - What happens with whiplash and how to best objectively measure and rehabilitate

You will have algorithms and forms to take home and apply in your clinic immediately.
